Preparation systems
The choice of the preparation system is made taking into account the degree of pollution and deterioration in which the support is located, and it is linked to the choice of the resin treatment cycle that you will have to take. In any case, at the end of each preparation operation of the support, and before application of the coating, a complete removal of the dust must be carried out in order to ensure a good anchorage of the coating.
The preparing systems of support generally used are:
• Hydro washing
• Pickling
• Grinding/sanding (or smoothing)
• Peening
• Sandblasting dry or wet
• Milling
• Bush hammering
• Speckling
Joints
Concrete flooring continuity solutions able to support the natural dimensional variations of the concrete plate, while ensuring the correct transmission of the floor-effecting forces
Shrinkage or control joints
The contraction or control joints are made by mechanical cutting of the plate in order to reduce the resistance section and favor the cracking of the concrete due to the pulling forces induced by the hygrometric retraction in the cutting areas. The contraction joints, while avoiding the slits appearing randomly on the surface of the floor, do not eliminate the retraction of the plate, but allow control of the effects.
Construction joints
The construction joints affect the whole section of the plate and are made at the end of the casting of each batch of floor to allow the horizontal displacements of the floor portions associated with the joint while ensuring correct transmission of the cuts and bending strains.
Insulation joints
Insulation joints have the function of making the floor independent of the adjacent structures such as pillars, walls, curbs, foundations of machines, etc … Contrary to the contraction joints that are performed by partially cutting the concrete plate, they affect the entire section of the floor and are made by providing in the joint sections a layer of deformable material.
Expansion joints
The expansion joints have the purpose of absorbing the dimensional variations of the plate due to thermal excursions; Generally they coincide with building joints.
